On Thursday evening we left home by train at 8pm to Munich where we hopped on a night train to Budapest. We arrived Friday morning, moved into our Air BnB flat which was absolutely perfect and right in the middle of the Center in Pest and afterwards we started exploring the city. We stayed almost 3 days and once again we were totally lucky with the weather…blue sky and around 20°C 🙂 Because of that we „missed“ one top-attraction in Budapest – the thermal baths – but we really did not feel like bathing in 40°C hot water…
We wandered around the city quite a lot and we used the public transportation unusually often…but there was always a bus or tram station around the corner 😉
One morning we got up at 5:45am because we wanted to enjoy the city during sunrise and without the crowds and when all the tour groups arrived at Fisherman’s Bastion at 9:30am we were already enjoying our second coffee in our favorite café 🙂
We were lucky that during our time in Budapest the Spring Festival took place…this way we could try a lot of traditional Hungarian food…which was either with lots of meat or very sweet 😀
Eating dinner was always “problematic” because dinner time always interfered with the blue hour / photography time 😉
As you might have noticed we liked Budapest a lot 🙂
NOTES & ANECDOTES
we left Budapest Sunday evening by night train, arrived at Imst at 6am Monday morning and went to the office at 7:30am. It worked perfectly well for us 🙂
Budapest was very clean and tidy
we were pleasantly surprised that there was almost no scaffolding and construction work
food and restaurants in Budapest were more expensive than expected. On the last evening we found out that in the quarter around the synagogue food seemed more reasonably priced and restaurants appeared less touristy
