On our way from the ferry coming from Morocco to the ferry going to Greece we crossed Italy in about a week and at some point we noticed that San Marino is almost no detour. So we decided to have a look!
We parked at the bottom of the hill in Borgo Maggiore and walked up to the old town of San Marino. We spent several hours just walking around within the small and empty streets, hiking from one guard tower to the next and enjoying the very nice and sunny weather. We waited for the sun to set and came back early the next morning for the sunrise as well, just before the rain and low clouds came in.
